CECIMO General Assembly Held in Basel: José Pérez Berdud Elected as New President

The General Assembly and Spring Meetings of the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries and Related Manufacturing Technologies (CECIMO), of which the Machine Manufacturers Association Türkiye (MİB) is a member, were held in Basel, Switzerland, on 9 June 2026.

During the General Assembly, José Pérez Berdud, CEO of Fagor Automation, was unanimously elected as the new President of CECIMO. He will lead the association for the next two years, representing Europe’s manufacturing technology industry at a time of significant industrial and technological transformation.

Under his presidency, CECIMO is expected to continue focusing on strengthening the competitiveness of European industry, reinforcing the Single Market, reducing barriers to industrial investment, and promoting fair global competition.

Commenting on his appointment, José Pérez Berdud emphasized the strategic importance of Europe’s manufacturing technology sector for industrial capacity, innovation, and strategic autonomy. He stated that he looks forward to working closely with CECIMO members to foster policies that support investment, innovation, and global competitiveness.

As MİB, we extend our sincere appreciation to outgoing President François Duval for his leadership and valuable contributions to the European manufacturing technology industry throughout his term, and we wish José Pérez Berdud every success in his new role.

MİB Delegation Represented Türkiye and the Turkish Machinery Industry

At the CECIMO General Assembly and Spring Meetings, Türkiye and the Turkish machinery manufacturing industry were represented by the MİB delegation comprising Fatih İğrek, Chairman of the Board; Fatih Kar, Vice Chairman of the Board; Selçuk Baydar, MİB Member; and Zülfikar Kılıç, Secretary General.

Throughout the meetings in Basel, the MİB delegation engaged with leading representatives of the European machinery industry and sectoral organizations. Discussions focused on the current outlook of the Turkish machinery manufacturing industry, opportunities to enhance international competitiveness, ongoing technological transformation, and the future direction of European industry.

The delegation also exchanged views with national associations and industry stakeholders from across Europe, exploring opportunities for stronger international cooperation and closer engagement between manufacturers. These meetings provided a valuable platform to further enhance the visibility and representation of the Turkish machinery sector within the European industrial ecosystem.

In addition, the appointment of Fatih Kar, representing MİB member company Karmetal, as a CECIMO Delegate for the new term marks an important step in strengthening the voice and representation of the Turkish machinery manufacturing industry within CECIMO’s activities and policy discussions.
