Our Board of Directors meeting was held on July 30, 2026, hosted by Mr. Fatih Kar, Vice President of our Board of Directors, at the facilities of KAR METAL in Sakarya – Arifiye. During the meeting, while the work carried out by our Association since the beginning of the year was comprehensively evaluated, activities planned to be implemented in the coming period and current developments on the sector’s agenda were discussed.
Agenda of the Machinery Sector
During the meeting, where the latest developments regarding the production, investment, and foreign trade performance of our machinery industry were discussed, the primary challenges of the sector, difficulties in accessing finance, high production costs, increasing import pressure in the domestic market, and practices leading to unfair competition, were highlighted. Views and proposals regarding the more effective use of import policy tools to protect the competitiveness of the Turkish machinery sector, supporting domestic production through public procurement and incentive mechanisms, improving the investment environment, and strengthening the financing opportunities of exporting companies were discussed, and a roadmap for upcoming contacts and activities was established.
Recent developments regarding the Communiqué on Domestic Goods were also discussed during the meeting. In a comprehensive presentation delivered by İlhan Cem Mirzaoğlu, Member of the MİB Board of Directors, the current and potential impacts of the Communiqué on the machinery manufacturing industry were evaluated. As a result of the discussions, new views and proposals to be shared with the Ministry of Industry and Technology were identified in line with our sector’s needs and the challenges encountered in practice.
MEEXX Bursa 2026
Preparations for the MEEXX Bursa Machinery and Technologies Fair, which will take place on November 25–28, 2026, at the Bursa Expo Center, were another key agenda item of the meeting. During the session, officials from KFA Fairs made a comprehensive presentation regarding the preparation process, promotional activities, and targets for MEEXX Bursa 2026. Domestic and international promotion, marketing, and sales efforts for the fair, as well as activities to be carried out and potential collaborations within the scope of the event, were reviewed.
Preparations for the Serbia Trade Delegation, organized by MİB on September 14–16, 2026, were also evaluated by the Board of Directors. Information was shared regarding business-to-business meetings, sectoral contacts to be conducted within the framework of the delegation, the expectations of participating companies, and efforts aimed at conducting the program with a focus on cooperation.
Event Calendar of the Machinery Sector
Additionally, the meeting evaluated participation, representation, and promotional efforts for major industry gatherings that hold significant importance for our members’ access to new markets, the development of international business links, and increasing the global visibility of the Turkish machinery sector, namely: AMB Stuttgart (September 15–17, 2026), MAKTEK Eurasia (September 28 – October 3, 2026), NMF Expo Moscow (October 6–9, 2026), and EuroBLECH Hannover (October 20–23, 2026).
Gathering with SAMİB Members
As part of the program, a meeting was also held with the members of the Sakarya Machinery Manufacturers Association (SAMİB). Evaluations were made on the current status of the machinery manufacturing industry in Sakarya, the challenges faced by companies, sectoral collaborations, and joint working opportunities.
